Dr Manisha Madkaikar

• Dr Manisha Madkaikar is the Director of ICMR-National Institute of Immunohaematology (ICMR-NIIH) and Centre for Research Management and Control of Haemoglobinopathies (CRMCH), Mumbai. • After completing postgraduate training in General Medicine from Seth G S Medical College, Mumbai in 1997, she joined ICMR-NIIH as a research scientist. • Her areas of interest include Hemoglobinopathies and Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases. • She received training from great Ormond Street Hospital and Institute of Child Health, London in 2007 under DBT international fellowship. • She has also established ICMR-CRMCH which was inaugurated in Dec 2022 • Under her leadership ICMR-CRMCH has initiated multiple studies in sickle cell disease (SCD) • She has spearheaded the two large multi-centric studies in India including multicentric newborn screening and multicentric randomized control trial using 10mg /kg vs 20/kg Hydroxyurea for SCD • She has >200 publications in the peer reviewed journals and written 10 book chapters
