Catherine F. Barclay is an undergraduate Neuroscience major at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, with a minor in Jewish, Islamic, and Middle Eastern Studies. She is a research intern in the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, supporting initiatives to improve global sickle cell disease (SCD) outcomes under the mentorship of Dr. Jane Hankins. Her work includes contributing to the development of an educational SCD Certificate Program for healthcare providers in low- and middle-income countries and supporting research efforts aimed at enhancing clinical care and training worldwide. Catherine also has research experience investigating ion channel expression in epilepsy at Rhodes College and clinical experience as a medical assistant in her hometown in Upstate New York. She has applied to medical school and aspires to become a physician dedicated to global health equity and lifelong service to underserved communities.
