Professor Emmanuel Chide Okocha

Professor Okocha Emmanuel Chide is a leading Nigerian hematologist and academic, currently serving as Dean of the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nnewi Campus. He has over 20 years of experience in clinical practice, medical education, and research, with a focus on sickle cell disease (SCD) and implementation science. Prof. Okocha plays a pivotal role as Site Principal Investigator at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital for the NIH supported SPARC-Net consortium. He is also an active member of the consortium’s Ethics Working Group and leads the Sustainability Working Group, where his leadership continues to shape policy and practice in SCD research and care. A passionate advocate for health equity and capacity development in Africa, Prof. Okocha is dedicated to mentoring emerging scientists and strengthening institutional frameworks for clinical research and patient care. His work bridges academic excellence and community impact. He is happily married with children
