Professor IkeOluwa Lagunju is a Professor of Paediatrics at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan and Consultant Paediatric Neurologist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, West African College of Physicians, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the prestigious Nigerian Academy of Medicine. She also holds the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.
Prof Lagunju pioneered the work on Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography for primary stroke prevention in children with sickle cell disease in Nigeria in 2009. She runs a large stroke prevention in SCD programme in Ibadan and her work has contributed to the reduction in the burden of stroke due to SCD in the country. She has over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals. She is the immediate past President of the Child Neurology Society of Nigeria.
